Description: 5 cm white ulcerated plaque, brown staining of teeth
Comments: Thyis 55-year-old man had a 5 month history of an ulcerated plaque at the base of the tongue. He was a chronic smoker and beetle nut chewer since his teens. Local examination revealed an ulcer involving the base of the tongue with leucoplakia of the surrounding mucosa. Right cervical lymph nodes were also enlarged. Fine needle aspirate cytology of the enlarged nodes showed squamous cell carcinoma, and biopsy of the ulcerated plaque showed well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma.

Comments: This 46-year-old woman was evaluated for a 2.0 cm ulcer of the left buccal mucosa which had been present for 2 months. The ulcer, which bled when examined, was covered with necrotic debris, and the border was indurated.

Comments: A 54-year-old woman developed a large tumor on the lower lip a year ago which failed to heal with herbal remedies. A biopsy showed a squamous cell carcinoma and a wide local excision was performed followed by a one stage AB flap. Final surgery was planned in 2 months with a delicate reconstruction to achieve a normal vermillion border.
