Comments: This healthy 11-year-old girl demonstrates a normal line of pigmentary demarcation on the anterior aspect of her upper arm that was noted during early childhood. These symmetric physiologic lesions are also known as Voight lines and Ito lines.

Description: Within the submucosa, there are numerous sebaceous glands, forming papules. These glands show mild hyperplasia and some directly connect to the overlying mucosal surface. There is no cytologic atypia.
Comments: This biopsy was submitted from a 48-year-old Asian female's labia. Fordyce spots are considered a normal physiologic variant and represent sebaceous glands, or sebaceous gland hyperplasia, in mucosal sites, i.e. oral cavity, vulva. They often present as yellow clustered papules and are not commonly biopsied. This case shows the typical histology. There are numerous sebaceous glands, some directly connecting to the mucosal surface.

Comments: This 2-week-old boy demonstrates a Mongolian spot on his wrist at a routine health check-up. He had similar lesions on his buttocks. The case was prepared by pediatric resident at the University of Missisippi Medical Center Dr. Eric Street.
