| Comments: | This 2-year-old girl developed large diarrheal stools and a chemical burn on her buttocks, perineum, and genital area after getting into her mother's laxative medication. The night before she had eaten 5 Ex-Lax tablets (Sennosides chewable tablets, 25 mg). Chemical burns from diarrhea resulting from ingestion of laxatives was reported by the author in Pediatrics, July 22, 2009, pp 179-80. The report emphasizes the importance of distinguishing this process from non-accidental injuries caused by hot water. | ||||
